Cocktail that matches with Chinese cuisine: Soho Fama

An imaginative cocktail drink that harmonises with modern Chinese cuisine- Smoking Chamomile, with own infused chamomile wine vodka, apple, lemon and honey.

The light touch of chrysanthemums made a wonderful floral accent to the cocktail while the timid sourness just perfectly balanced with stir fried dish and even Siu Long Bao!:)

北角雞蛋仔「利強記」

The iconic Hong Kong street snack "Eggettes" (雞蛋仔) is my favourite childhood bite-size treat! ($16) It's basically made of simple baking ingredients ( egg, flour, sugar and backing powder) by a specially shaped double-sided griddle!

Eat them piping hot 🔥and freshly made so that u can get crispy exterior & moist and fluffy inside ( watch out! 🐝When it looks so un intimidating and feels light, it can still sit heavy in the stomachs for few hours). .

New Italian eatery in SOHO: Prego

Opened in August in SOHO to the delight of traditional Italian food lovers, Prego is welcoming. Enjoy the shellfish as a starter at this Italian eatery, Prego: Importer Italian #mussels soup with garlic bread, elegantly presented in a wooden background.

I thought it's the best to go with the simplest option so that I am fully able to enjoy the shells' natural taste- the uniquely sweet and succulent briny taste! Make sure you dip the fresh crusty Italian bread to mop up all the soup that gives a comforting crispy element to contrast the mushy little mussels.

I believe there's something called food porn literally; this servicing size chicken has just proved it. The Galleto whole white spring chicken had firm, moist meat and a light balanced sauce. Even the breast meat is juicy! Simple ingredients; yet u get most out of its natural flavour at a warm home-style cooking.

HK$ 138 for this lunch set with starter(we tried "Cozze", the imported Italian Mussels soup🍵 with garlic bread), a main course and hearty finishing of dessert. Overall service was warm and attentive. Love it!

Menya Kuroko 麵屋黑琥

Menya Kuroko 麵屋黑琥 is a welcome addition to the vibrant Stanley Street fare scene! Although this small eatery with 29 seats along the narrow corridor offers only ramen, it’s very busy with customer queuing up for lunch and dinner.
On offers are 7 kinds of ramen. For an extra $20, customers can add a bowl of rice topped with barbecue pork or chicken. Best of all, you can mark your noodles preferences (texture and thickness) on the order sheet.

The award winning(日本拉麵大賽冠軍金賞Kuroko ramen (黑琥拉麵) is served with generous toppings, including a gooey hot spring egg, seaweeds, bamboo shoots, few slices of pork with a bunch of spring onion! The soup tasted good, giving out an intense aroma; but it’s not-so-addictive to the extent that you will finish the whole bowl without a single drop of soup.

Hand crafted fruit popsicleI: SEE ISEE

Nothing's more satisfying than a refreshing healthy treat in summer! Hand crafted kiwi Popsicle ($42) has no artificial flavour and colour; it's juicy and sour enough to give you a fruity burst with every mouthful of kiwi paste!
And how warm is it when a staff asked for your name and wrote that down on a artisan paper cup ( without spelling it wrong; unlike a chained coffee store ) Will def try the milky items here next time e.g. the cheesy raspberry / and strawberry Hokkaido milk ice lolly PLUS snowflakes! .❄️

More than just a cocktail

When it comes to cocktail, it's more than a cup of syrup. Botanist Brew ($128) is one of the signature cocktails in Post 97, that presents Botanist gin, Mancino vermouth bianoco, cardamom, lemon juice, honey syrup, rhubarb bitters and Angostura bitters -all in one sip.

The visually bright and carefully crafted lemon zest is a refreshing highlight while ice ball inside whisky glass just freeze my upper lib( a quite interesting sensation experience), not to mention the lovely hand written note said "if you can't say something nice, keep drinking"

An eatery more than an ordinary chinese chaa chan tang restaurant

A truly hidden gem in Hong Kong! This  I would say its quality is even better than many local private home cuisine "私房菜"( super cost efficient too)My favourite is Shrimp sashimi + deep fried shrimp head, served with sour and spicy Thai sauce amazingly fresh! .

Shanghainese stir fried egg white (賽螃蟹) and deep fried crabs with salted egg yolk sauce love the smooth and delicate texture of egg white that mixed with a raw egg yolk. The crab aside is not solely decoration but an aromatic highlight of the dish, wow our taste bud with savoury egg yolk sauce and sweetness of the meat. Will definitely come again with friends!

We got a tailor made menu with barbecue goose, stir fried cod fish slices and ribs topped with sweet grape fruit sauce etc and French toast cubes as a perfect finishing! You will also get hot flower tea or icy Rose tea to clear your palate ! .

Gogya ramen!

Famous for its burnt ramen in town, Gogyo serves a decent bowl of noodles that is chewy and thick; an interesting bite compared to usual ones. I go for the signature Kogashi Miso Ramen (#五行焦香味噌拉) set ( with sushi: salmon, salmon roe and wayu beef tartare)(HKD178).
The broth looks a bit too dark , char-like and oily that might scare you at 1st sight; but it's exceptionally good and rich in roasted miso flavour, with chopped onion and minced pork that add depth to the soup base. The layers oil ( lard) keeps the noodles hot, succulent and thick; but if you preferred something clean tasting, better pick tantei shio or the remaining 4 broth options.

Our love affairs with Ramen continues with few slides of barbecue port ,Mung bean sprouts, gooey hot spring egg, and a generous bunch of chopped spring onion; the noodle set is ready for colourful summer.

Gogya has good ramen lunch set in Central (especially if you love super flavoured soup), but to me nothing too surprising or addictive. ( there are way too many good ramen stores in Hong Kong; fierce competition huh)
